When the MAGA regime, with the Republicans support, depresses the US economy the oligarchs will be just fine, don’t you worry. Now that tariffs have been imposed, stocks and bonds prices will fall and just as it gets really bad for us, the 1% rich will tell their tough guy to call the tariffs off. The convicted felon will do it because he is afraid to stand up to them as they control his wealth. They will purchase the now depressed stocks thereby controls g even more of the economy. Things will get a little better and the citizenry will thank their benevolent overlords for dropping some of the crumbs from their banquet table. 

It is the same story as in It’s A Wonderful Life when Potter says to George Bailey - 

P: Now, take during the depression, for instance. You and I were the only ones that kept our heads. You saved the Building and Loan, and I saved all the rest. 

GB: Yes. Well, most people say you stole all the rest.

P: The envious ones say that, George. The suckers.
